We provide an NHS blood pressure check service. Monitoring your blood pressure as you get older is important as high blood pressure can lead to strokes and cardio-vascular problems.

The only way of knowing whether you have high blood pressure is to have a blood pressure test.

All adults over 40 are advised to have their blood pressure checked at least every 5 years. Getting this done is easy and could save your life.

You can get your blood pressure tested at a number of places, including at our pharmacies. If you've not been diagnosed with high blood pressure and would like to get yours checked, contact or visit one of our branches. 

If we find any potential signs of high blood pressure, we will refer you to your GP for further investigation and treatment if appropriate.

This is a non-judgemental, confidential free NHS service for those who are sexually active and under the age of 25. This service is sometimes provided alongside the Emergency Hormonal Contraception (EHC) service. The pharmacy will be able to give you advice on how to use the chlamydia testing kit, how to return it for testing and what will happen when your test results come back.

We dispense both NHS and private prescriptions. Our service is fast and efficient including advice on how to get the most benefit from your medicines. We also guarantee to beat any private prescription quote from any pharmacy store.

You can return all unwanted medicines to our pharmacies and we will dispose them for you safely. This is a free NHS service.

No appointments needed, easily accessible location and just a quick consultation, we ensure a hassle free service to all our patients. Simply walk in and ask to speak to our friendly and professional pharmacist about the morning after pill.

Our pharmacist will need to see the person that the emergency contraception is intended for, and will need to ask a few questions regarding the patients’ medical history. This is done in the privacy of our consultation room and everything discussed is in complete confidence. The sooner you come to our pharmacy to take the morning after pill, the greater the chances of avoiding pregnancy.

If the Pharmacist feels like Levonelle One Step is not suitable for you, they will not give you the morning after pill, but advise you to see your health care professional.

We are one of the few pharmacies that are able to provide the morning after pill free of charge to patients who are aged 24 and under, and who meet the NHS criteria. Alternatively, the pill can be purchased privately from our pharmacy.

About Emergency Contraception (Levonelle One Step) -
When it comes to sex, even if you’ve taken precautions, sometimes things don’t quite go to plan. Accidents happen with contraception and things go wrong all the time. You may even just be worried that your contraceptive pill hasn’t worked. If you’ve had unprotected sex or you’re worried about contraception failure, here is some of the information you need to know about Levonelle One Step -

- Levonelle One Step is an emergency contraceptive that can be used within 72 hours (3 days) of unprotected sex or if your contraceptive method has failed.
- There is one white tablet in the pack and it is most effective when taken within the first 12 hours
- The tablet contains a hormone called Levonorgestrel.
- Levonelle One Step is thought to work by stopping your ovaries from releasing an egg or by preventing sperm from fertilising any egg that may have already been released
- If you are over 16 you can get Levonelle One Step over the counter at our Pharmacy
- If you are under 16 you cannot buy Levonelle One Step at the Pharmacy, you need to visit your GP or a Walk-In centre
- Levonelle One Step works to prevent a pregnancy becoming established, it does not work if you are already pregnant
- You should only use Levonelle One Step in emergencies, not as a regular form of contraception

This confidential medicines check-up will help you to find out more about your medicine, identify any problems you may be having with taking your medicines as intended and help you to take your medicine/s to best effect. This is available as a free NHS Service.

The pharmacy will help support independent living for vulnerable people, or those with special needs who may experience problems with medicine taking and who do not fall within the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 criteria. The pharmacy will assess the patient’s knowledge and use of their medicines and, based on the information gathered, will invite the patient or their carer to discuss the different types of support available to help the patient take their medicines as intended. They will then jointly come to an agreement about the best support for that patient. The kind of support could include medicines reminder charts, medication administration record (MAR) charts, labelling medicines in larger fonts and multi-compartment compliance aids (these have the days of the week written on them to help ensure the medicine is taken on the correct day and at the correct time).

The pharmacy can provide advice and support for the treatment of a minor ailment that you may have. This includes being able to supply medicines or appliances (medical devices) at NHS expense, without the need for you to go and get a prescription from your GP first. The pharmacy may just provide advice about what you can do to help with the symptoms, or they may supply an over-the-counter medicine to treat the minor ailment, or, where appropriate, refer you to another healthcare professional. The local NHS may require the pharmacy to satisfy certain criteria before this free service can be provided to patients.

The Electronic Prescription Service is a NHS service that allows your GP to send your prescription directly to the pharmacy electronically .Our pharmacies are equipped to receive NHS prescriptions electronically from your GP.

Repeat dispensing enables pharmacists to dispense regular medicines to suitable patients, according to an agreed protocol, without the direct involvement of the GP surgery on each occasion a repeat medicine is required. This is available as a free NHS service.

When you are prescribed a medicine to treat a long-term condition for the first time, the pharmacist will support you to use the medicine safely and to best effect. The pharmacist will talk to you approximately one-two weeks after you first receive the medicine to see how you are getting on with it and to discuss any problems you may have. A second follow-up will be a month after you first receive the medicine. The service is only available to people using certain medicines. In some cases where there is a problem apparent and a solution cannot be found between you and the pharmacist, you will be referred back to your doctor. This is available as a free NHS service.

The pharmacy can provide advice and support to both residents and staff within a care home by entering into an agreement to do so. This service aims to ensure the proper and effective ordering of medicines and appliances (medical devices) and their clinical and cost effective use. The pharmacy can also provide guidance on the safe storage, supply and administration (along with accurate record keeping) of the medicines and appliances used in the care home.

This free NHS service is designed to provide support and advice to people who want to give up smoking. You may also have access to a stop smoking adviser who can assist you in creating your own personalised stop smoking plan. The pharmacy may supply appropriate stop smoking medicines and aids as required and may also refer you to other specialist services if your they think it is necessary.

Our pharmacist will supervise the consumption of prescribed medicines at the point the medicine is handed to the patient to ensure that the correct dose is taken. The service is frequently used to support people taking medicines daily to manage substance misuse problems, but could be used for other medicines such as medicines to treat tuberculosis. This is a user-friendly, non-judgemental service, and includes the provision of support and advice about your specific medicine. Supervised Consumption to manage substance misuse problems is currently a free NHS Service.
